Blaise Compaore calls for national forgiveness

The former Burkinabé president who resigned in October 2014, has asked the people of Burkina Faso to shun their differences and come together to save their nation. “This nation given to us by our ancestors deserves better than what some separatists want to turn it into” he said.

The former associate of President Thomas Sankara, has begged the nation to forgive him, especially the family of his former ally “I demand forgiveness from the Burkinabé people, particularly, the family of my friend and brother Thomas Isidore Noël Sankara.”

Speaking at a press conference in Burkina Faso on July 26 2022, the former politician called on sons and daughters of the land home and abroad to practice tolerance, come together and forgive each other for the growth of the country.

Burkina Faso has been in turmoil since 2014 with over 2000 lives lost and 1.9 million displaced persons.
