Bamenda Mile Four: Fire ravages seven shops
About seven shops were consumed by fire at the Mile 4 market in Nkwen, Bamenda III subdivision.
The incident occurred at about 11 pm on the night of Saturday, December 16, 2023.
According to eyewitness reports, the fire was reportedly caused by an electrical fault.
Some of the shop owners were in tears at the scene, as they counted their losses on Sunday morning.
CNA learned it is the population who came out and saved the other shops, by putting off the fire.
The City Mayor of Bamenda, Paul Achombong, and the Mayor of Bamenda III council, Fongu Cletus visited the scene this morning to assess the damages.
In February 2021 a huge section of the market was equally consumed by fire.
