Ayaba Fires Back As Sako Denies IPOB Union

The President of Interim Government, Dr. Samuel Ikome Sako said during a virtual press conference via zoom on August 6, 2021, that there has never been an alliance between the people of Southern Cameroons and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. His outing came months after another leader, fighting for the independence of Anglophone regions, Dr. Ayaba Cho Lucas, went into a partnership with the IPOB of imprisoned Nnamdi Kanu. Before the deal, Mr. Kanu was a free man until he was arrested on July 18 in Kenya.

During the conference, Dr. Sako said that unlike Biafra trying to separate from Nigeria, Southern Cameroons are restoring their independence. “We have co-existed this long with Cameroon, but if the union has become problematic, does Southern Cameroon lose its independence as a result? The answer is no. If it is agreed that our union with Cameroon was not a treaty union as contemplated by the United Nations charter, why are we obliged to remain in a defacto a union where we have been treated as slaves for the last 60 years? He bemoaned.

This is the authority that speaks for the people of Southern Cameroon. We have not and we will not endorse Biafra, that’s the position we have taken. We recognize the right to self-determination of people of the world according to the laws even of Nigeria,” he told journalists during the press briefing.

According to the Interim Government, the AGovC and IPOB alliance has caused untold suffering to refugees in Nigeria.

“Nigeria should continue to treat our refugees according to international law. they are desperate, they are hungry, many without shelter, many without education, many without hope. please, in the name of God, continue to treat them with love and care. they are not security threats to the territorial integrity or security of the nation of Nigeria, and they will not be,” he said.

Dr Cho Fires back

In a video, Dr. Cho Ayaba said on the ACN television that, “I would like to respond to Mr. Samuel Ikome Sako on his attack to our alliance with the Biafrans using refugees as an excuse. Those who liberated Rwanda came from Refugee camps in Uganda…Refugees have played an important role in liberation struggles and should never be treated as victims and be politicized by desperate politicians who pass around for liberations leaders. Our refugees have been politicized; our prisoners have been politicized…The alliance with Biafra is unstoppable, unstoppable. Nigeria has shown itself not to be our friend.”

“I care about refugees, I am a refugee, living in the camp for three years”

The alliance with Biafra is for the survival and self reservation of Ambazonia. Mr Samuel Ikome Sako has demnanded funding from Biafra but the Biafrans relaised that he was not aserious candidate for a liberation struggle.

In 1967, Biafra failed in their war of independence and surrendered to the Nigerian Government.
