At least 10 injured as armed Fulanis invade Wum over death of brothers

Armed Fulani militias have attacked a community in Wum Subdivision in Memhcum Division, North West region.

On Monday afternoon of July 25, 2022, the attackers invaded the Zonghofe palace destroying properties and injuring some individuals, a source said.

The attacks come shortly after the release of the Fon of Naikom and Secretary General of GTTC Wum, another source added.

CNA learned that the militias were out to avenge the death of three Fulanis who were kidnapped on Sunday night. Three of them were found dead early Monday, dumped around Lake Wum

At least 10 persons were injured including the National President of the Aghem Youth Development Association, Pastor Ngong Rogers, who was injured in the head.

Gunshots were fired around the Mosque, the Palace, and around the town, sending villagers to flee for their lives.

It is not certain who kidnapped the four Fulanis and the whereabouts of the fourth. Wum has been at the centre of inter-religious conflicts. The armed conflict in Anglophone Regions since 2016 has aggravated an already existing situation.
