Asisat Oshoala ruled out of AWCON for injury
Four-time African women’s footballer of the year Asisat Oshoala will not continue the ongoing Africa women cup of nations. Asisat has been ruled out of the competition by medics following a ligament injury she suffered as the team faced South Africa on Monday 4th.
The 27 – year – old suffered the injury in early minutes of the encounter but continued pushing through until the 82nd minute of the encounter when she bowed out. Nigeria lost by 1 goal to 2.
Scans carried out by medics revealed Asisat suffered a grade two medical collateral ligament injury and is expected to return to Spain this July 7. This absence will greatly affect the super falcons who are currently third in group C with 0 point behind Botswana and South Africa.
The team take on Botswana this July 7 at 10 PM local time and hopes are high that the 11 times champions will bounce back after a disappointing opener.
