FECAFOOT not happy team bonuses were put online by MINSEP

The Cameroon sports ministry in an attempt to clear its name has offended the main protagonists in their play.

Images of staff and player bonuses of the Cameroon national football team were all over social media and debates followed. While some found it outrageous that almost F CFA 590 million was given to the team by government at a time when the country cannot boast of good schools, hospitals or roads, others developed sudden interest in the sports discipline hoping to one day earn as much.

FECAFOOT through its Secretary General has expressed dissatisfaction with the publishing of these amounts by the ministry stating it was a confidential document made for the sake of transparency and never should have been on social media platforms. They also decry the fact that this was done without the consent of the actors involved and hence constitutes violation of privacy.

FECAFOOT also makes it clear that the national men’s football team is a national heritage and should be protected at all times by all from such actions which could tamper with team stability especially now that Cameroon is getting set to take part in several international competitions.
