Gov’t, Fecafoot Finally Breath As CAF Postpones Inspection Mission
Douala, Cameroon-Friday August 18, 2017-9:20 PM Local Time (Cameroon News Agency) The interim Secretary General of the African football governing body, CAF, Essam Ahmed has signed correspondence to the SG of Cameroon football Federation, Blaise Moussa informing him that the inspection mission by CAF delegation accompanied by members of audit house, Price Waterhouse Coopers, has been postponed to an unknown date.
The release further states that the postponement is due to the non availability of the audit company and that a new date would be communicated to Fecafoot.
This new development could be considered as the first battle won by the Cameroon government and the country’s football federation, FECAFOOT in the saga existing with CAF President Ahmad.
They were supposed to arrive Cameroon this weekend for a one week inspection tour in all sites to host the Nations Cup as part of several inspection missions ahead of the 2019 AFCON.
CAF had decided to anticipate the mission which was supposed to be held later in the year to the disappointment of Cameroon which was never ready to receive the delegation before its original date.
The postponement also comes to water down the statement of Mr Ahmad who said categorical that Cameroon will not be ready to host the competition.
President of Etoile Filante of Garoua Abdouraman Baba Ahmadou gad dragged CAF to court for not respecting the original time given for the inspection.
