Yaounde: Woman summoned for criticizing dirty environment

A Cameroonian woman, Appolonie Ngono has been summoned to the Yaounde Central Police Station for publicly denouncing and criticizing the state of dirt and hygiene in the political capital city.

The summons was served to her on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

According to the authorities, she has spoiled the image of the political capital.

In a life video on social media, the woman was seen talking at a dustbin spot in the capital city, denouncing the level of dirt in the area and how the agents sent to clear the dirt were not protected by the government.

In response to this summon, Appolonie Ngono stated that; “For my country, the Cameroon nation, I will always denounce. For the Cameroonians, I will denounce,”.

The Europe-based woman has been backed by her followers who feel the summons wasn’t necessary.

“This country is spoiled, nothing and no one is saved. I knew there would be a summon,”. “You have our total support,” some comments read.

Grammy Award winner, Richard Bona, declared persona non grata in Cameroon, also supported her fight, adding that when “big men” steal state funds, they are not summoned but when someone denounces something, he is summoned.
