Cameroon to achieve UNAIDS set goals by 2030

The government of Cameroon intends to achieve the UNAIDS’s three 95-set goals by 2030.
This was made known during the 3rd National Forum for the elimination of Mother-child transmission and management of HIV in children and adolescents in Cameroon which opened in Yaounde on September 19, 2023.
Health Minister Malachie expressed his gratitude to the technical and financial partners for the support they have provided to the country, in to fight against HIV.
“I invite all stakeholders to join the efforts made so far to accompany the public sector for optimal control of HIV in pregnant women, newborns, children, and adolescents,”. The Minister said.
The recorded figures performance in 2022 indicated that, out of the 13418 children identified, 13332 were tested, 475 tested positive, 382 were under treatment, and 80.4% were under treatment.
The government is said to have undertaken several actions aimed at reducing risk of HIV transmission from mother to child which include, the development of a plan for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission; adoption and implementation of Option B and its extension to all health training practicing PTME, not forgetting the appropriation of the test and treat initiative and improving access to healthcare services, prenatal consultations through user fees, health check, and CSU.
