Government forces in the South West region, rejoiced as they displayed war “trophies” on their popular site in Kumba, where corpses of Ambazonia Separatists are deposited for public view.
On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, it was the turn of self-styled general, Field Marshall Bitter Kola, who led the Ambazonia People Liberation Council in Fako Division, APLC, a pro-independence movement, fighting for self-rule of the North West and South West regions.
FM Bitter Kola was the Communication Secretary of the group and had been seen on numerous occasions sending out messages from the group to the public.
The battle took place on Monday, September 18, in Meme Division, South West region. The Cameroon military that carried out the operation said they also killed four of his comrades.
The group sent a condolence message saying “A freedom fighter knows death could come in no distant time, but his goal remains the ultimate. the death of one generates 10 new brave fighters. an ideology cannot be broken down by death but all we know is that the LRC military and its citizens will weep in the coming months. RIP hero“
The APLC prides itself on being the strongest platform fighting for independence, especially after instituting a two-week lockdown to thwart the smooth resumption of the new school year.
The lockdown was however bloody in Limbe, Kumba, Buea, and Ikiliwindi with more than 10 civilians killed in separate attacks.
