Back to school: west governor says environment must be secured, healthy for pupils

By Stephen TADAHA

“Stakeholders in the basic education sector in the West region must ensure a safe and secured learning environment for pupils this academic year 2023-2024.”

This is the main recommendation made by Governor Awa Fonka Augustine of the West region to basic education stakeholders this August 24 2023 at Lycée Technique Canada in Bafoussam, chief town of the West region, during the sector’s conference to officially launch of the new school year in his administrative unit.

Governor Awa Fonka Augustine in prescribing a secured and healthy environment for studies, also called on stakeholders to take necessary measures to ensure a smooth organization of Fenasco B games that will be hosted by the West region.

“We are expecting them to work with other stakeholders in order to ensure that there is security. The environment has to be very clean and they should make sure that they respect the principles that have been put in place and we need bilingualism to come in play.”

In terms of projections for the upcoming year, focus will be on the digitalisation of lessons and the reinforcement of practices, civic and moral values for the transformation of the basic education sector.
