Insults on Late Njalla Quan: Bakwerian association gives 7 days ultimatum, says apologize or face consequences
The LI’TIMBIREH LA FO’O, an indigenous native association created by the Bakwerians, who predominantly form Fako Division in the South West region, have waged to defend the memory of the owner of Njalla Quan Sports Academy, the late Henry Njalla Quan.
In a press release, they accused some unnamed individuals and football stakeholders of profanning the memory of the late Cameroon Development Corporation General Manager.
This comes in the wake of disputes between the Cameroon Football Federation and the successor of Henry Njalla Quan, his sob, Njalla Quan Junior.
While stating that they are not in any way commenting on the Fecafoot brouhaha, the association said they will not sit and watch their illustrious son’s image damaged by individuals who have been welcomed by the people of Fako.
“After our investigations, we discovered that these comments were directed at the late Sango Henry Njalla Quan as a result of differences which his son and heir, Sango Henry Njalla Quan Junior had with different persons in execution of his duties as Vice President of FECAFOOT which he eventually resigned from. While we are not directly concerned and shall not be getting involved in the football-related disputes which Sango Njalla Quan Junior has with these people, what is of particular interest to us are the inhumane, false, derogatory and defamatory comments thrown at late Sango Henry Njalla Quan, an icon of Fako whose contribution towards nation building and social cohesion needs no reminder.
According to the release, some stakeholders said the late Njalla Quan was an embezzler, “These persons who are residents of Limbe, but are non-indigenes of Limbe and Fako Division made claims that late Sango Henry Njalla Quan was an embezzler, a thief who died of a brain tumour following investigations by the state for allegedly stealing state funds, and someone who raised his children with “stolen money”. They went further to even state that he is of Ghanaian origin and shall exhume his body and transfer his grave to Ghana. These same individuals had previously insulted Fako chiefs, calling them “poor and useless”. What baffles us is that most of these comments were made in the South West FECAFOOT WhatsApp forum, which has a huge number of Fako sons and daughters as well as elites who to our greatest surprise never condemned these statements, preferring to stay mute!”
They hope that the accused shall redeem themselves by apologising or bringing evidence to back up their claims, “In consideration of this, we are giving the accused persons seven days from the publication of this press release to present to the people of Limbe and Fako, proof of late Sango Henry Njalla Quan being an embezzler of state funds by presenting the court judgement condemning him for stealing state funds as well as a medical report attesting he died of a brain tumour. We are also asking them to provide his “Ghanaian birth certificate” or any other document attesting to his “Ghanaian nationality”. In the absence of this, we expect the accused persons to tender public apologies through the same medium which they used to profane the memory of late Sango Henry Njalla Quan failure to which our association shall take necessary steps required for traditional and cultural rites and manifestations to be engaged against the concerned persons in order to cleanse the image of our icon late Sango Henry Njalla Quan.”
