CAF Confederation: FECAFOOT sidelines Bamboutos FC of Mbouda for nonpayment of personnel

By Stephen TADAHA

FECAFOOT has sidelined Bamboutos FC of Mbouda from CAF Competitions next season.

The club was sanctioned in a decision taken on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, by the Club Licensing Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation, because the Wester regional club did not fulfill the requirements needed to get CAF licenses particularly article 60 related to the payment of personnel.

This decision means the vice champions of Cameroon who were eligible for the CAF Confederations Cup, will not be part of the competition next season.

The decision is still difficult to digest and understand by some football pundits.

“A team involved in such a competition should normally be protected and supported by the Federation because the team becomes the country’s team. The Federation has to make sure measures are taken for the team to perform well. But I’m shocked with the decision unless there is something hidden behind,” said Jean Claude Foning, football coach and sympathizer of Bamboutos.

Reacting to the decision, Pascal Dissock, GM of the club denies the allegations, revealing that they have appealed the decision.

“It is with saddened hearts that we received the news and we immediately responded by organizing an extraordinary meeting during which we filed an appeal with the help of experts in the domain. Attached to the appeal, is a file justifying that we owe no staff member.” Declared Pascal Dissock.

” I am taking this opportunity to call on fans and sympathizers of Bamboutos to remain calm, especially those who wanted to protest in front of Fecafoot headquarters. The situation is under control,” added Pascal Dissock.

The club had a maximum of 48 hours to appeal the decision.
