Man who said Paul Biya is an unfortunate thing that happened to Cameroon will be investigated.

The Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji has instructed the governor of the Littoral region to take administrative actions against Serge Alain Otou, a presenter working with Equinoxe television in Cameroon and a guest.

The presenter, Otou, and one of his guests, Engelbert Lebon Datchoua, will be quizzed by the Wouri Administration, according to the Minister.  Mr Datchoua on his part will be suspended from all debates on Equinoxe Television pending a case file at the National Communication Council, which the minister ordered Governor Samuel Dieudonne Ivaha to do.

Engelbert Lebon Datchoua declared on Equinoxe television’s flagship, Equinoxe Soir, that  “President Paul Biya is one of the most unfortunate things that has happened to Cameroon.”

Paul Atanga Nji said such an outing is an insult and defamation to the Head of State and the institutions of the Republic.

Such robust putting with high-sounding warnings to the Press, the presenter, and the guest show that Cameroon is yet to embrace freedom of the press, many journalists said.

The said guest is from Cameroon’s opposition party, Cameroon Renaissance Movement, CRM. A party that has been fighting top oust Paul Biya by not recognizing his victory in the 2018 presidential election.
