COVID back in the West region
Authorities in the West region say corona virus cases are on the rise in the region. This has pompted them to reinstitute the obligatory wearing of face masks in public places, social distancing, non participation in events gathering more than 50 persons and frequent hand washing with soap and running water.
The region as of August 2nd tallies 79 new positive cases and 47 active cases of covid19 as revealed by Awa FONKA AUGUSTINE in a press release. The health districts of Dschang and the mifi are leading with 21 active cases each. The Batcham health district counts 10 active cases while those of Bandjoun and Bangangté count 7 each.
West governor Awa Fonka Augustine says the population has failed to respect the barrier measures prescribed by health authorities. He also asked that competent authorities carry on free screening and massive sensitization campaigns in churches, markets, palaces and other public places.
