FECAFOOT bans Unisport president for life

The FECAFOOT Ethics Committee has banned the now-former Unisport of Haut-Nkam president, Donald Ngameni, from all football activities in Cameroon for life.

His lifetime suspension came after Cameroonian midfielder, Jean-Paul Makasso, who plays for FC Rodange in Luxembourg, filed a complaint against the club owner.

Makasso accused the president of fraud. In early August, several reports indicated that the Unisport FC boss had collected two million FCFA from the player, promising him a place in the national team.

In the complaint filed at the FECAFOOT Ethics Committee, the player asked for a refund from the club official.

The accusations submitted by the footballer have been deemed “founded” by the Ethics Committee.

The body has declared Donald Ngameni guilty of violating the general code of conduct as well as involvement in corruption in violation of article 13 line 1 and 3, and article 21 line 1 of the code of ethics of FECAFOOT.

Besides his life ban, Ngameni will pay the sum of 10,000,000 FCFA. He has ten days to appeal the ruling, after which the decision will be considered permanent, the Ethics Committee noted.

However, there are challenges to the Ethics Committee’s decision after the Court of Arbitration for Sports in a recent decision said the body was illegally constituted, demanding Fecafoot to reinstate members of the former committee.
