Three die in Kousseri highway shooting

At least three persons have died, two truck drivers and a driver assistant.

Sources revealed that on Sunday, July 16, 2023, the driver of a truck that was in a third convoy had stopped to fix a spare tyre that fell off the truck. Another truck pulled over to help him fix the tire.

“When the second truck driver pulled over with his assistant, they both went to meet their colleague who was alone. Suddenly heavily armed men invaded the area and shot them all,” a colleague narrated the story.

Their bodies were deposited in a Kousseri mortuary, Logone-et-Chari Division in the far north.

The source added that the convoy was being guarded but that security forces had gone ahead when the driver stepped down to fix his spare tyre.

Their names have not been revealed.
