Zogo lawyer says enough evidence to implicate suspects arrested

The prosecuting council led by Barrister Calvin Job for the case of murdered journalist Martinez Zogo has hinted that there is too much evidence implicating the suspects who were arrested.

He was speaking during a press briefing on the ongoing proceedings on February 20th at Montee Essomba, Yaounde.

He also revealed that Diane Zogo, Martinez Zogos’s wife has been threatened and was even folowed by unidentified people onboard two vehicles who are suspected to have vandalized her vehicle later that day.

Family sources say they believe this was a warning being sent to the widow

The lawyer added that Zogo’s wife and family are satisfied with the work the media is doing to push for justice for Martinez Zogo.

“The family asked me to thank journalists involved in this case. They are really satisfied with the work you have all done…The only thing the family wants is for the authors of the assassination of Martinez Zogo to be arrested and tried,” he explained.

Calvin Job also called on the media and other social groups to respect the privacy of the victim’s family as they take time to grieve.

He highlighted that Martinez Zogos’s burial will be made known once the preliminary investigations are over.

This press briefing comes three days after Amougou Belinga’s lawyer, Charles Tchoungang, denied all accusations linking his client to the murder of Martinez Zogo and refuted testimonies given by Colonel Justin Danwe, one of the suspects also arrested. This was during a press conference he held on February 17th in Yaounde.

However, Barrister Jaques Mbouny, Colonel Justin Danwe’s lawyer, contradicted Barrister Tchoungang and maintained his client’s testimonies about Amougou Belinga’s involvement in the murder of Martinez Zogo. This was during an interview he granted on February 19th, 2023.
