YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon — Cameroonian youth leader Djamo Dahirou has been appointed Director for Africa and the Middle East at Junior Chamber International (JCI), becoming the youngest person ever to hold the position in the organization’s history.
The appointment marks a significant milestone for Cameroon, placing one of its young leaders in a key regional leadership role within the global network dedicated to developing young active citizens and entrepreneurs.
Beyond the personal achievement, Dahirou’s appointment is being celebrated as a source of national pride and an inspiration for young people across Cameroon.
His rise to the position is particularly notable because he hails from the Mbororo Fulani community, where access to formal education has historically remained limited for many. His achievement is being viewed as evidence that determination, education and leadership can overcome social and historical barriers.
