Yaounde III: Mayor urges parents to enroll children for establishment of birth certificates

The Mayor of the Yaounde III Council, Owona Luc, has launched a registration exercise for children in his area of jurisdiction, who do not yet have birth certificates.

Owona Luc encouraged parents with children aged between 91 days and 12 years old, to grab the opportunity. The Mayor said interested persons must be registered by Friday, January 27.

Many have lauded the initiative and have encouraged parents to establish their children’s birth certificates within the period of time indicated.

“For me, I did not wait for an announcement like this to make the baby’s birth certificate,” Clodette, a parent in Douala said.

“When my two babies were born, I was given a card at the hospital giving me a period of time within which I could make their birth certificates without paying much,” she disclosed.

According to Clodette, it is preferable to respect the time that is indicated at the hospital after birth. “If you respect the time that is indicated on the paper given at the hospital where the children are delivered, it will be easier” the parent of two noted.

The campaign is open and authorities are just waiting for parents to show up.
