Yaounde: city council budget for 2023 F CFA37.2 billion

The sum of F CFA 37.2 billion has been adopted by the Yaounde city council as its budget for the year 2023.
This envelope was voted on and unanimously adopted by the councilors at the just-ended council session chaired by the Mfoundi Divisional Officer (D.O.), Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent.
 
The 2023 budget has an increase of F CFA 1.3billion (3.6%) as compared to last year’s.

According to the Yaounde city Mayor, Luc Messi Atangana, the budgetary envelope that has just been approved will “allow the continuation of the vast modernization project of the capital city” identified in four different fields.


Firstly, the Yaounde city council will carry out maintenance works on roads after the purchase of necessary equipment – vehicles and machinery, the water and electricity network, other technical services, communal buildings, computers, and office furniture.

Also, the development works are a part of the projects of the Mayor of Yaounde II, Yanick Ayissi Eloundou and this includes the construction of an archive room, gardens, public squares, and green spaces in the city.

With regards to construction, the priorities for 2023 are among others, the construction of communal buildings, housing services, the extension works of the town hall, notably the ongoing construction of the annex building number 2; the construction of communal buildings for commercial use, the completion of the Etoudi market, the construction of a modern market in Ebom (Nsimeyong); the construction of the Afanoyoa road and the construction of the security fence at the Ngousso- Ngoulmekong neighborhoods.

Besides this, other spaces will be rehabilitated such as public toilets, and the digitalization of civil status documents will also be a priority.

The last fraction will focus on citizenship, culture, sport, and youth support through grants which will be given to local development committees and other authorized associations for the socio-economic integration of young people throughout the city.
