Yaounde: At Least Six Die, Forty Injured In Stadium Stampede

Some six football lovers who went to the Olembe stadium in Yaoundé to watch Cameroon play against Comoros, have died in a stampede, local media have reported.

At least 40 others were injured. The death toll could increase, Centre regional governor, Paul Bea told reporters.

The injured have been taken to the Messasi hospital for treatment.

The stampede occurred as football lovers pushed through to watch the second 8th final game of the ongoing AFCON 2021.

Cameroon beat Comoros 2-1 to qualify for the quarter finals.
