Yaounde: ASCUDA Raises over CFA 16 million for community hall in Ashong

The Ashong Social, Cultural and Development Association has raised over CFA 16 million for the construction of a community hall back in Ashong, North West.
The ASCUDA mobilised the funds, mostly in pledges, during ASCUDA’s annual general meeting(AGM) on December 13 in Yaounde.
The hall will cost an estimated 120 million CFA, according to ASCUDA president general, Mbah John Timben. It will serve as a venue for various events, youth empowerment programs and various community-driven activities.

Major contributors to the fund included Fongoh & Partners Real Estate, represented by its CEO, Fongoh Valentine, who donated CFA 1 million. Tikum Vincent, Quality Director of Telcar Cocoa, equally contributed a huge sum while emphasising the importance of giving back to the community.

In response to the generosity, the traditional ruler of Ashong, Fon Mbafor Christopher III, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of ASCUDA. He recollected that the previous raisers in Buea and Tiko enabled the current distribution of electricity in Ashong. Fon Mbafor hailed ASCUDA’s resolve under Tiban John, its national president, admitting that it was greatly impacting the lives of community members

The fundraiser was styled in cultural colour. The construction of the Multipurpose Community Hall is expected to commence in the days ahead.

Ashong is a village in Batibo Subdivision, Momo Division. It is home to approximately 9000 people. Agriculture is the main lifeline of the people.
