Yaounde: 8 suspected armed bandits arrested

A gang of armed bandits suspected to have terrorized the population of the Yaounde I municipality have been arrested by security forces. They were presented to the public on February 3 2023 in Yaounde.

They were arrested following investigations and a search operation which was launched by the national gendermarie unit of Yaounde I.

“Following instructions from our hierarchy to put an end to malpractices of certain individuals in Yaounde town, we proceeded to the arrest of a group of individuals and they were 8 of them,” the Commander of the Yaounde I Gendermarie brigade, Akoni I Ngwainmbi explained.

Bullets, marijuana, knives, sharp objects, phones, amongst other items were found in the group’s possession.
“Following the death of some individuals in one snack bar in Yaounde precisely at the Emana neighborhood, the vehicle of the Governor of Garoua which was broken into and a briefcase taken away amongst many other attacks, we decided to get to as instructed by our hierarchy to put an end to the high crime rate in Yaound,” the commander added.

The suspects will be taken to court to answer to charges levied against them.
