West: security forces nab 4 suspected armed bandits
A gang of four men have been arrested by the security forces for multiple cases of attacks and terrorism on the population.
They were presented to the public by the West Regional Delegation of Public Security yesterday January 19th.
In their possession, two guns and two machetes were found which they allegedly used to attack their victims.
According to the head of the anti-criminal unit at the judicial police, Micheal Nkake Bekonbo, their modus operandi was carefully thought out:
“After targeting their victims, they go ahead to knock on their doors in the middle of the night. Immediately they open their gates, they grab them, point a gun at them, and make away with their money and other valuable items. In case of any resistance, they immediately fire a bullet”.
He recalls that on the 31st of august 2022, the alleged bandits while attacking a family residence shot a young boy and investigations began immediately the case was reported and these led to the arrests:
“The gang has been operating in the cities of Douala, Buea, and Limbe so due to their constant movement from one city to another it was difficult to get hold of them. After getting information that their leader was in Yaounde, we immediately informed our colleagues over there. The arrest of the gang leader enabled us to track the rest of the members,” he explained.
The elements of the west regional delegation of public security have promised to fish out all criminals operating across the ten regions of Cameroon and the west in particular. They call on the population to collaborate with them to help track down such criminals.
The alleged criminals will be taken to court to answer charges levied against them.
