West region: Man specialized in theft of pigs arrested
Dzouffe Raphaël met his downfall when he was caught at about 1: 30 am on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, as he attempted to steal another.
His life was saved from the mob by the intervention of elements of the National gendarmerie.
After preliminary investigations, security sources say he operates by mixing marijuana in pigs’ feedings, thereby drugging them and silently taking them away.
His last act was stopped by members of the local vigilante group. At the time of his arrest, locals found a quantity of cannabis which he used to drug 9 pigs, ready to be transported on his bike.
Further investigations permitted the discovery of 6 other pigs at the suspect’s residence which he got in previous operations, amongst which 3 were identified as belonging to a victim who had 2 weeks ago filed a complaint at the gendarmerie brigade.
The suspect, married and father of a child, a well-known metal sheet technician and mechanic in the locality will be deferred to the state council where he will face the law.
