West: NCC talks to journalists on importance of debate programs
Some television and radio journalists from various media organs in the West region have been drilled by the National Communication Council(NCC) on techniques of successfully conducting debate programs.
This was through a capacity reinforcement workshop organized on September 5th dubbed NCC coffee talks organized by the NCC in Bafoussam under the theme “The responsibility of presenters in the conduct of audiovisual debates.” The workshop was attended by the regional delegate of communication and some veteran journalists and experts in the likes of Kenneth Asobo, Marc Omboui and Guemda Buinda.
The main objective of the workshop as explained by NCC President Joseph Chebonkeng Kalabubse, was to sensitise and educate press organs on the role they have in the society especially through debate programs. It was also aimed at drawing the attention of media practitioners and reawakening in them the professional consciousness necessart for the building of a responsible press in Cameroon.
During the talks, experts in the domain drilled the close to 40 journalists present on the basics of radio and television and on techniques of successfully conducting debate programs on air.
The next workshops, as said by the NCC President, will target the print media and community radios.
