Volleyball: Cameroon’s opponents known

The Volleyball Lionesses of Cameroon will face Nigeria, Burundi, Mali, Algeria and Egypt at the 21st edition of the Women’s Africa Nations Championship that runs from August 16-25, 2023 at the Yaounde multipurpose sports complex.

Their opponents were unveiled this Tuesday August 15 during a draw ceremony at the Yaounde multipurpose sports complex chaired by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi and the President of the organizing committee, Bello Bourdane, President of the Cameroon Volleyball Federation.

A total of 12 teams are taking part in the competition this year and are divided into two groups of 6 teams each.

Group A has Cameroon, Nigeria, Burundi, Mali, Algeria and Egypt

Group B is made up of Kenya, Morocco, Rwanda, Lesotho, Uganda and Burkina Faso.

The Lionesses will begin defending their title against Burundi on Wednesday August 16 2023 at 6pm. All matches of the Lionesses will be played at 6pm everyday. The team is heading to this tournament as title holders and also as winners of the last three editions. They are therefore seeking a fourth consecutive title that will also qualify them for the 2024 Olympic games in France.
