Idris Youssouf, goalkeeper for local legue two club, Victoria United of Limbe, has been dismissed from the club.

In a letter made public by the club on February 13, 2023, it is said that the goalkeeper has violated some articles in his professional contract by telling the secrets of the club to an opponent team.

“Victoria United is officially dismissing Mr. Idris Youssouf this Monday on the grounds that; he violated article 5(6) of his professional contract which states that he should safeguard the reputation of the club and its members, and respect duty of confidentiality” a section of the letter states.

In the same letter, it is added that while with the club, goalkeeper Idris was still a member of the Unisport of Bafang WhatsApp forum-his former club, where he reportedly sent a voice message telling the forum members how his club usually does match fixing.

“While a player of Victoria United, he was still attached to his former employers Unisport through their WhatsApp forum, transmitting sensitive information to our direct opponents,” another section of the letter added.

In the voice message that CNA came across on social media, the voice reported to be that of Idris Youssouf is heard telling the group members how his club President is very rich and ready to buy their place into the league one championship.

“If Donald Ngameni doesn’t give money to referees, that is his problem. We give money to referees, our President is very rich. We (Victoria United) bribe referees and we shall qualify for the Elite One,” the voice echoed.

This comes just a day after Victoria United’s match against Unisport ended in a brawl on February 12 at the Bafang municipal stadium, when a late penalty was awarded to the Limbe club.

Supporters of Unisport dashed onto the pitch and physically attacked the match officials when their club was leading 1 nil at the 90+ minute of play. According to them, Victoria United never deserved a penalty.

As the match ended prematurely, the Transitioning Committee of Professional League of Football in a press release said the Bafang municipal stadium is suspended till further notice. More sanctions concerning the match is said to be communicated by the committee in the days ahead.
