Update on Bazintia killing
Witchcraft or Mental disorder?
The presumed mad man who invaded the home of Mr TANO Prosper in the early hours of Tuesday October 4th, 2022, killing his two wives with a machete has been transferred to the Mbouda Gendarmerie legion after pressure mounted by the population.
An irate population had stormed the Batcham gendarmerie brigade seeking mob justice. according to the population, the allegedly mentally deranged man, aged about 28 whose name CNA got as Franklin Piankeu, a native from Bagam still in the Bamboutos, used “madness” to mask a cold blooded murder. Witnesses say Franklin had gone to the Bazintia neighborhood seeking for healing from a sorcerer:
“Franklin left the witch doctor’s place at about 3am, behaving like a mad man, attacking passersby with a plank and declaring he needs to kill at least 5 persons” declared by a furious inhabitant of the neighborhood.
“I was in my house when I heard some noise outside, someone hitting my car. When I tried to intervene he used a plank on me, I succeeded to defend myself but he ran away” declares a victim.
After a failed attempt with this victim, the man then stormed the home of Tano Prosper where he took away the lives of his wives Rosalie and Sorelle. The home owner’s efforts to intervene were fruitless as he also got serious beatings from Franklin and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.
Franklin on his part was neutralized and taken to the Batcham gendarmerie brigade.
The remains of the two have been kept by their families for burial later.
