The University of Douala has emerged champions of this year’s all Varsity Games which ended in Bamenda, North West region Saturday April 29,2017.The institution backed home 14 gold medals, 1 ahead of last year’s winner, National Institute for Youth and Sports, INJS.
A win in the female football final catapulted the University of Douala to the first spot despite their 12 silver and 5 bronze. INJS came second with 13 gold, 14 silver and 3 bronze medals.
The University of Yaoundé 2, Soa was classified 3rd with 11 gold medals, 8 silver and 15 bronze.Siter University of Yaoundé I came 4th with 10 gold medals.
University Institute of the Gulf of Guinea, IUG, is 5th on the table and first for private institutions with 8 gold medals.
The two English speaking universities of Buea and Bamenda came on the 8th and 12th respectively. Host UBa backed home 6 silver and 10 bronze medals.
The next games will be hosted by the University of Maroua for the first time.
