Kumba-Ekondo-Titi road: MPs, Mayors of Ndian, Meme divisions commit to support construction

Attacks and disruption of works from separatist fighters in the past had delayed the construction of the Kumba – Ekondo Titi road stretch on the national road number 16.
In July 2022, President Paul Biya awarded the contract to the engineering unit of the Rapid Intervention Batallion (BIR) for quicker results.

It is in this light that Members of Parliament (MPs), Mayors, and traditional rulers of the Ndian and Meme divisions of the South West region have pledged to collaborate with the BIR engineering unit to facilitate the construction of the road.

This was during a meeting chaired by the Director of Cabinet at the Prime Minister’s Office, Balungeli Confiance Ebune, and the minister of public works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi on November 21 2022 in Yaounde.

The meeting aimed at examining ways of supporting the BIR unit for the successful completion of the project. According to Senator Andrew Oteh, it is the population that suffers the most from the bad road:

“If this road does not go through, our farmers will continue suffering, our children cannot go to school so the road must go through.”

The paramount ruler of Kumba, Nfon Mukete Ekoko says this is the most important project for Meme division right now. According to the MP for the Ndian division, Peter Njume, they simply cannot continue to allow ambazonian fighters perturb the project:
“We have taken the engagement to see that we collaborate and tell these boys who are disturbing that enough is enough and that they shouldn’t disturb the construction of the road again.”

The Minister of Public works while concluding announced an eminent visit to the construction site and reiterated government’s determination to see this project finalized.
