UBa journalism lecturer, Prof. Cheo, launches own Magazine

The Cameroon media landscape has welcomed a new magazine, Time Watch Global magazine, launched on Saturday, May 24, at Up Station in Bamenda, in the North West region.

The quarterly magazine was unveiled by its Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Professor Victor Ngu Cheo, a journalism and communication trainer with over 25 years of experience. Professor Victor Cheo holds a PhD in Environmental communication. He has trained hundreds of journalists and communicators. He currently serves as the Director of Academic Affairs at the University of Bamenda.

The launching ceremony, attended by professors, doctors, communication experts, journalists, and others, was marked by several testimonies and reviews of the magazine and its publisher.

According to Prof. Muluh Henry, Vice Dean in charge of Admission and Records in the Faculty of Arts, the magazine is a testament to the fine products being trained in the department of Communication and Development Studies.

Prof. Victor Ngu Cheo, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, emphasized that Time Watch Global magazine is committed to keeping Cameroonians and the world informed at no cost. “It’s the first magazine in this country that will not be sold; it will be free of charge. It’s a commodity, and we must add value to it,” he said.

The magazine’s motto, “Information, Innovation, and Sustainable Development,” reflects its objective of propagating factual and genuine information for sustainable development across the globe. Its slogan, “We stop at nothing,” underscores the team’s commitment to delivering high-quality content, focusing on sustainable development, climate and environment, entrepreneurship and others.

Prof. Ngu Cheo revealed that he had the dream of launching the magazine some 14 years ago and finally decided to make it feasible in 2025. “2025 marks 25 years of my career in higher education, and I asked myself what I could do to show within the context of the entrepreneurial university.
My students will be judging me as I marry theory and practice,” he said.

The first edition of Time Watch Global magazine features articles on various topics, including UNVDA’s rice production and quality, Minister Mbah Acha Rose’s charity work in Momo Division, and Prof. Theresia Nkuo-Akenji’s work with the European Union Ambassador.

With its launch, Time Watch Global magazine promises to reshape the media landscape in Cameroon and beyond, providing a platform for informed discourse and sustainable development.
