Former President of America, Donald Trump, following his conviction on 34 felony charges related to a hush money trial, has vowed to appeal the verdict.
According to NewsMax, Trump’s team is gearing up for a legal battle while he unleashed a barrage of personal attacks against the presiding judge, labeling him a “tyrant.”
The trial, which culminated in Trump’s conviction, was met with vehement denunciation from the former president. Several US-based news outlets have it that Trump denounced the proceedings as rigged and disgraceful, adamantly maintaining his innocence despite the jury’s unanimous decision.
In a press conference held at Trump Tower in New York, he fervently declared himself an innocent man, even as he made incorrect statements and reiterated unfounded claims.
The jury’s verdict, delivered late Thursday afternoon after two days of deliberations spanning over 9 1/2 hours, marked a historic moment as Trump became the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes.
The charges against him included falsifying business records in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election through hush money payments to a porn actor who alleged a sexual encounter with Trump.
In his fiery rhetoric outside the courtroom, Trump lambasted the trial as a sham, asserting that the true verdict would be rendered by the people come November 5th.
Despite the overwhelming jury decision, Trump remained steadfast in his belief that the trial was marred by bias and manipulation.
The former president’s plans to appeal signal a protracted legal battle ahead, further intensifying the already contentious aftermath of the trial.
