Team Cameroon makes historic performance at 2023 Francophonie games
Team Cameroon touched the tarmac of the Yaoundé international Airport Monday August 7, 2023 from the Francophonie games that rounded up in Congolese Capital Kinshasa on Sunday August 6.
The Delegation led by the Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi was received at the airport by closed relatives and friends after their historic performance in the competition.
Cameroon finished third in the games, behind Morocco and Romania after grabbing a total of 40 medals (13 gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze)
Morocco was first with a total of 57 while Romania had 38 medals with 17 in gold.
The brilliant performance was completed on Sunday with a splendid victory in football over Burkina Faso 2-1 that gave them their 13th gold medal. The first time ever for Cameroon to grab gold in football.
The country in this way, improves her performance from the previous games that took place in Côte D’Ivoire in 2017 where they managed to grab just 21 medals.
A total of 29 la Francophonie member countries took part in the competition with 378 medals won.
