SW: Five gov’t forces die in Fulani attack
At least Four members of the Cameroon military and One gendarme officer were killed in an attack attributed to the Fulani tribe in the Akwaya subdivision, Manyu division in the South West region.
The Fulani armed group stormed the F23 Agwa mixed post located in the Akwaya, Ballin sector. This attack occurred in the mid-afternoon.
This incident occurred within a context of increasing insecurity in the South West region, marked by frequent clashes between defense forces and armed separatist groups. However, the Fulani are not noted for fighting for separation.

According to security detail, there were five fatalities (Four Category 3 soldiers and a member of the national gendarmerie), 1 wounded, and 3 missing.

The security detail further revealed that the mixed control post was burned down and weapons seized by the attackers. They expressed disappointment over the difficulty of communicating due to the poor network in the area.
A source said the soldiers were attacked by herdsmen who came from Taraba State in Nigeria to launch an attack, avenging the death of their colleagues who were allegedly killed the previous day in Akwaya.
According to Reuters News Agency, the attackers were in their hundredths. A administrator confirmed to CNA that the attack was ferocious.
