Suspected illicit drug traffickers arrested in Yaounde
Two men accused of drug use and trafficking have been arrested by gendarmes in Yaounde.
This was during a routine patrol carried out by forces of law and order in Nkada, a part of the Ngousso neighborhood in Yaounde. They were arrested at about 12:30PM this May 23 in possession of ten wraps of Indian hemp, 8 packets of cocaine, a measuring device and matchbox among other items confiscated for investigation.
It is reported by security forces that one of the suspects, aged 29 attempted an escape while on his way to brigade with an officer a motorcycle. This was a futile attempt which caused an accident. Both suspects are currently detained.
Going by statistics from the national gendarmerie, between January and May 2022, over 30 persons have been arrested in the North, Littoral and Centre regions for drug trafficking and illicit trade.
The population has once again been called upon to denounce any suspected activities or people in their neighborhoods to bring to book persons who endanger others.
