Student intercepted at Nsimalen airport with 600 fake One All Sports jerseys
Members of the Cameroon Airport Company in Yaounde said the student’s luggage contained 600 fake One All Sports jerseys.
According to reports, the seizure was done during a security check upon the arrival of the student from China on November 17, 2022. But the information was only made a few days after.
Customs officials say the 600 jerseys stamped One All Sports, the brand of the Indomitable Lions’ new equipment manufacturer, were discovered in a parcel. Questioned on the origin of the jerseys, the importer who arrived from China was unable to justify her status as a partner to Edimo Design Sarl, the company that was selected by Fecafoot to market the sports product.
This seizure happens weeks after the Cameroonian Customs at the request of Edimo Design committed to strengthening security checks at land, sea, and air borders to prevent the smuggling of fake One All Sports jerseys.
The Ministry of Commerce through its national brigade for controls and repression of fraud is as well committed to the hunt for counterfeit Indomitable Lions jerseys across the country.
The track down began after Edimo Design requested help following the production of fake jerseys stamped One All Sports, which went viral on social media.
This business is not new in Cameroon. Ahead of important sporting events like the FIFA World Cup, many produce fake jerseys. While some supporters might not realize they are buying a counterfeit product, others purchase them since it is less costly than the original.
