State funeral organized for Egbekaw victims
A state funeral has been organized for the 26 victims of the November 6, Separatist massacre in Mamfe, Manyu Division of the South West Region, even if only 12 caskets were displayed at the Mamfe grandstand on December 14.
Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai presided over the funeral ceremony that pulled hundreds of people in and around the subdivision, including traditional, security, local, administrative, and religious authorities.
“We’re weak and tired of Ambazonia atrocities in Manyu Division. What is happening in Manyu has never been our culture. We don’t know how to shed blood. Today, we don’t know what is happening”. Robertson Tabenchong, Mayor of Mamfe said.
Speaking at the Mamfe ceremonial grandstand, the Chief Executive Officer of the region, Governor Bernard Okalia Bilai, urged the population, and traditional and local authorities to denounce and report separatist fighters whom he said are being protected by them.
“The keyword is denunciation. Denounce them. They are in our midst and no more in the bush. I have instructed everyone including the Mayors, traditional leaders, and government authorities to denounce and report them to the military.” Emphasized the governor.
Robertson Tabenchong added that the population of Mamfe is already denouncing the Ambazonia fighters, enemies of peace.
“They have the opportunity to drop down their arms and join the DDR centre or they will be neutralized. The population has now decided to distance themselves from them and give information about them to the military”. Revealed the municipal authority.
Calls to end the killings in both the South West and North West regions have also been re-echoed by the population, administrative, religious, and traditional authorities.
