Sports ministry explains origin of 530 million given to indomitable lions

The information is contained in a communique signed by the communications chief at the ministry of sports and physical education, Gabriel Nloga.

He explains that the amount of F CFA 181 million was generously donated by President Paul Biya after his ministry sent out a special request. This money is to congratulate the lions for their qualification for the Qatar world cup after defeating Algeria.

The remainder of the initial F CFA 530 million posted online by various media platforms is for various benefits such as effective presence, encouragement and once again for their victory.

This total amount of F CFA 530 million was effectively paid by the sports ministry and this amount was deposited in the accounts of all staff and players of the national team.

Mr Nloga further explains that the general rule for international games is for each country to take care of its players’ lodging, food, payment of bonuses, airplane rentals and more and so this should in no way be surprising.

In the last paragraphs, he says that the state of Cameroon is trying hard to make their athletes live through their talent although they are aware that football is the most expensive and privileged by the state for now.
