Sports Minister cautions athletes to practice fair play, discipline in Francophonie games

The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, has enjoined the athletes to practice values of fair play and discipline during the Francophonie games.

 This was during the official handing of the country’s flag ceremony to the delegation.

The event which took place at the Multipurpose Sport Complex in Yaounde was attended by athletes, artists, coaches and members of the technical team as well as some presidents of federation.

Minister Narcisse Mouelle Kombi encouraged athletes to make Cameroon proud by winning more medals.

He officially handed over the flag to Tetndap Nsangou Aboubakar Sidick who collected in the name of celebrated sprinter and gold medalist Emmanuel Alobwede Eseme.

The Minister urged the athletes to draw inspiration from the recent exploits of Emmanuel Esseme, who recently impressed at the Diamond League.

Team Cameroon’s 186-man delegation to the 9th Francophonie games is a constituent of 138 athletes, 41 creative artists and 7 members of the technical staff.

Over 3500 competitors from 40 countries will take part at the Francophonie games in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC from July 28, to August 6, 2023.

At the 2017 Francophonie games in Abidjan, Cameroon finished 7 on the medal table with a total of 21 medals, 5 in gold, 7 silva and 9 bronze medals in Abidjan, Côte d’ivoire.
