The Confederation of African Football CAF recently published a list of 54 players who are being considered for Cameroon’s Afcon 2023 provisional squad.
What’s noteworthy is that seven of these players are homegrown talents, currently plying their trade in Cameroon’s Elite One Championship.
These players include some of the best talents in the Cameroon such as Emmanuel Mahop the 2023 Ballon d’Or winner, Leonel Ateba a goal poacher from Dynamo, Franck Atsama a defensive wall from Bamboutos fc of Mbouda.
Besides these players, the list also includes several other talents like Victoria United’s midfielder Wilfried Nathan, Patient Wassou of Coton Sports, Warren Zidane of AS Fortuna, and Jean Eric Marsou.
However, the list is expected to be trimmed down to a maximum of 27 players before Jan 3rd, as per CAF’s norms for the 2023 African Nations cup. This African Nations cup starts on January 13 and Cameroon’s first match will be against Guinea on January 15 2023.
