By Wilson Musa

Residents of Jakiri in Bui Division are in shock following the killing of Tizih Mercy, a teacher at Government Bilingual High School Jakiri. She was kidnapped last week from her home by armed men.
According to local sources, the armed abducted her from her residence took her to an unknown location. A day after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted her family and demanded a ransom of more than 20 million francs CFA for her release.
Despite efforts by relatives and community members to secure her freedom, Tizih Mercy was later killed while in captivity. Her body was subsequently discovered abandoned along the Jakiri – Wainamah road, sparking outrage and deep sorrow within the community.
Colleagues describe the deceased as a dedicated and hardworking teacher who was passionate about her students and her profession. News of her death has sent waves of fear across Jakiri, particularly among teachers and other civil servants who say they now feel increasingly unsafe.

The killing adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the North West Region, where kidnappings for ransom continue to threaten the lives of civilians and disrupt social and educational activities. Many government teachers and other civil servants have been killed since the advent of the Anglophone crisis with more than a hundred kidnapped and a huge ransom paid
