Separatists Demand 1 Billion FCFA Ransom To Free Six Kidnapped Delegates
An Ambazonian Activist called Don Pasho has demanded the sum of 1 billion FCFA as ransom and the release of 1000 Anglophone inmates before Ambazonia fighters set free six Divisional Delegates kidnapped in Ekondo Titi.
On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, the six Delegates returning from a pillar planting exercise on a foundation were kidnapped in the Mirose-Balue village subdivision.
According to the Divisional Officer for Ndian, Forwang Lawrence the victims include the Delegates of Economy, Planning and Regional Development, MINEPAT, Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, MINDHU, Ministry of Water and Energy Resources, MINEE, Ministry of State Property, Land Tenure and Surveys, MINCAF, and the Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Social Economy and Handicraft, MINPMESSA. The Divisional Chief of Taxes for the Ndian division is also among the detainees.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, Don Pasho, a pro-Sisiku Julius Ayuktabe Activist, said the Ambazonia fighters carried out the kidnapping as revenge against the government for the destruction of oil mills belonging to private individuals.
Meanwhile those close to Ikome Samuel Sako’s Interim Government have said they know nothing about the kidnapping.
“On June 16, 2021, the media cited a report from the colonial Divisional Officer for Ndian, Mr. Fowang Lawrence, that six individuals were kidnapped in that locality. This interim government cannot ascertain whether any Ambazonia Restoration Forces (ARFs) arrested any colonial trespassers in that locality on June 16, 2021. An investigation has been launched. Further statements will be made if new information is obtained,” said Paul Nillong
Media Outreach Coordinator for Self Defense department of IG-Sako.
