Boston Celtics win 18th NBA Championship

The Boston Celtics have been crowned the 2024 NBA Champions after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in game 5 of the final.

Star power forward, Jayson Tatum, scored 31 points, gave 11 assists, and grabbed eight rebounds, to lead his team in the 88-106 win that gave them a 4-1 series lead.

Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving helped the Mavericks avoid a sweep in game four, but could not contain an explosive Celtics team in game five, which had the return of centre Kristaps Porzingis who missed the last two games due to injury.

The victory at the TD Garden on Tuesday morning, broke the tie between the Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers, for the team with the most championship titles in the league.

35-year-old Joe Mazzulla with two years at Celtics, coached the team to its 18th NBA title, becoming the youngest coach to lead a team to a championship title since Bill Russell in 1969.
