Senatorial election: NW Governor calls on security forces to keep region safe

By Nukapuh P.

The Governor of the North West region has called on security forces in the region to secure the entire region as the senatorial election draws closer.

Governor Adolphe Lele l’Afrique made the call recently during the award of medals to some police officers in Bamenda for their patriotic fight for peace in the region.

“I’m tasking them to secure the region and prepare for the awaited senatorial election in calm all over the North West region,” Adolphe Lele said.

While congratulating them for their selfless efforts in the region, Governor Adolphe Lele also called on them to continue working for the return of peace in the region.

“I am asking them to endeavor more than before to secure the city, main roads and the border to ease the circulation of the population,” Adolphe Lele added.

According to some of the officers, they are determined to serve the population no matter the situation, as one of the newly promoted said she usually works everyday from 6am to 6pm just to make sure that the population is secure.

The ceremony brought together hundreds of police officers who were promoted to the ranks of senior assistant superintendents, second grade police officers and more.

This comes at a time when many are clamouring for the return of peace in the Anglophone regions, as both separatist fighters, government soldiers and the civilians continue losing their lives in the now over 5-year bloody war.
