Senator Mundi’s children paid ransom to Ayaba Cho’s ADF- Dr. Success Nkongho
By Wilson Musa
A former Ambazonian commander, cum Pastor, Dr. Success Nkongho has insinuated that money changed hands before the recent release from captivity, of Senator Regina Mundi.
The Senator was released on Monday, May 30, 2022, in Ashong, Momo Division in the North West region. But her release has left many wagging tongues, wondering how simple the ADF could have allowed government forces to discover their hideouts.
The former freedom fighter, Nigerian-based Dr. Success Nkongho whom Ambazonians believed betrayed them when he started dining with Yaounde, has said that the military communique informing the public about her release is a fake story.
“I want you to note that there was no gun battle, I repeat, there was no gun battle for the release of Senator Regina Mundi. There was just a drama to give an impression that the military worked so hard for her freedom so that credit would be given to the minister of defense and his generals so they can use that method to extort more money from the Unity Palace,” he said in 6 minutes, 19 seconds audio message.
According to Dr. Success Nkongho, the leader of the Ambazonia Defense Forces, Dr. Ayaba Cho Lucas and his group collected ransom from two fronts;
“Senator Mundi’s children paid money to ADF of Ayaba Cho Lucas for the release of their mother. And ADF promised to release Senator Mundi, but they did not know how to do it that will not create suspicion in the heart of the population. While they were contemplating, the military contacted them and they accepted to release her on the condition that ransom is being paid, not knowing that her children had already paid the first ransom. The military paid the second ransom. That is when the deal was sealed.” He continued.
But a Deputy Defense Chief of the ADF and spokesman of the Ambazonia Governing Council, Capo Daniel, has said that the claims of Pastor Nkongho are unfounded.
You don’t need to look further than the mayhem caused in Ashong by the Cameroon military operation to know what happened. It is ridiculous that people are taking the word of a conman and a person with clear objective to spread disinformation seriously- Capo Daniel said.

Pastor Success Nkongho asked both sides to show casualties if a battle actually ensued.
“I have reliable information on what I am saying. This explains why the military lied that in the gun battle to release Senator Mundi, there were casualties…have you seen them? The answer is no…what they will not be able to produce are the corpses of the amba fighters they claimed that they killed. The military should just tell us that there was a diplomatic talk between us and these Ambazonians.”
When CNA reached out to the ADF to cross-check this information, the group’s DDC, said negative, “Absolutely No. our demand was made public and a couple of international stakeholders have been engaged in the discussions. Success Nkongho is a conman hired by the Cameroon military intelligence to be used to spread anti-self determination propaganda meant to generate mistrust within our camps. His claims are untrue and unsubstantiated.” Capo Daniel retorted.
Why didn’t they release Ekondo Titi delegates, what about the president of the North West house of chiefs. The military did this for the sole purpose to create an impression before President Paul Biya that they are very competent. I can assure you that this mission will put plenty of billions into their account including the minister of defense- Dr Pastor Success Nkongho
According to the Pastor, the ADF planned with the military where the incident would happen. That on this particular day, the separatists will shoot in the air, “They started releasing bullets in the air among themselves… a few minutes later, the ambas abandoned their hostages and alerted the military to come and take them away. Creating an impression to the hostages and population that the military labored so much for their freedom.”
Dr. Success abandoned the struggle for Ambazonia’s independence to wine with Yaounde. In 2020 he was instrumental in the return of some refugees from Nigeria. He had also played in role in convincing some key Ambazonia fighters like ex-fighter Nambere, to drop weapons.
But he has recently been bitter with the regime, telling whoever want to hear that most barons are not fighting to end the war but to end their poverty.
