SDF calls on government to take meaningful political steps to end Anglophone crisis
The Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Front political party has called on the government to take concrete political actions to end the over five-year long anglophone crisis and also take measures to put an end to the rising cost of living in the country.
These are some of the recommendations and resolutiions of the National Executive Committee meeting which took place over the weekend at the party’s headquarters in Yaounde.
The meeting also focused on discussing issues concerning the party’s moves for the year 2023.
According to a report signed by the National Chairman, Ni John Fru Ndi, the SDF “urges the government to take meaningful political actions to end the Anglophone crisis which has so destroyed the lives of many Cameroonians, especially the people of the North West and South West, and which has caused much suffering and hardship”.
It also states that the government should change its strategy and take serious political action to address the deplorable and appalling security situation in the Adamaoua, East, and Far North regions of the country.
It further highlights that the government should take appropriate measures to reduce the stress imposed on Cameroonians by the rising cost of living they experience daily:
“SDF condemns the lack of political will on the part of the government to monitor the execution of the budget and properly address the numerous financial scandals surrounding senior state officials; calls on the government to be accountable and transparent in the management of the emergency/miscellaneous funds in the state budget,” the report reads.
Also worthy of note is the fact that the committe chose to oust all regional executives and replace them with appointed coordinators in order to better conduct the renewal of the grassroots organs of the party.
