Sarah Hanfou lawyer and Cameroonian table tennis player at Paris Olympics

Sarah Hanffou is one of the six athletes who will be representing Cameroon at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. She is a lawyer, but that has not prevented her from participating in high-level sports.

The 37-year-old is currently training in Paris ahead of the Games which will take place from July 26 to August 11. She allocates time for each activity. Her schedule provides time for training and periods reserved for her career as a lawyer.

“There are many similarities in the law profession and sports,” Hanffou says. She notes that both activities are demanding and require team spirit, which is what makes her easily sail through the two.

She advises young athletes to be “self-confident” and “determined” in education as well as the sports activity they want to excel in.

“The young sports person who wants to go to the highest level in this sport and equally wants to pursue their studies, you should not listen to all of those people who say it is impossible” Sarah Hanffou advises, adding that “when there is a will, there is a way.”

The table tennis player has participated in three Olympic Games as a Cameroonian athlete. She was born in Roubaix, France, to a Cameroonian father and French mother. Besides table tennis, she is a practicing lawyer with the Toulon Bar in France.
