Samuel Eto’o found guilty of tax fraud
Former Cameroonian international and current Cameroon Football Federation president, Samuel Eto’o Fils has been sentenced to 22 months in prison after a court found him guilty of tax fraud.
Eto’o Fils is said to have hidden 3.8 million euros from Spanish taxation between 2006 and 2009. back then, he was a player with Barcelona football club. Eto’o will however not spend jail time considering that sentences of less than two years are rarely ever executed especially when the condemned has no previous criminal records. Eto’o will however pay a fine of 1.8 million euros while his former manager, Jose Maria Mesalles will pay 900.000 euros for being an accomplice.
